| Welcome to my website! I live in Reading, MA, but I am originally from NH. I studied art and art history, along with music at Plymouth University in NH. I paint with acrylic paints. Many artists shy away from acrylic paints because they dry so quickly. I find the quick dry time is an advantage. I like the idea that if I make a mistake I can always paint over it. Instead of trying to do a wet-on-wet technique, such as an oil painter employs, I just use layers. I am very interested in color, color theory and why and how our eyes interpret color. When I sit down to start a painting, often I will mix most of the colors ahead of time. I find this to be almost as satisfying as applying them to the canvas! My subjects are mostly landscape or animals. I paint a lot of self portraits and scenes from my family's farm back in NH. I have over five years experience in the retail paint business as a paint color consultant. I have a private color consulting business, giving on site paint color advice & decorating inspiration for commercial or residential spaces. I am a member of the Reading Art Association. |
